SPARK - Remote Initiation System
SPARK combines a robust radio link with clearly separated safety-critical functions. Up to 16 Remote Initiation Units (RIUs) can be precisely controlled via a central handheld device (HCU).
At a glance
Safety concept
Physical safety key, integrated circuit test, and two-hand operation.
Radio link
Bidirectional point-to-point connection with up to 2 km in urban environments and more than 20 km line of sight.
Encryption
256-bit AES for secure communication between the HCU and RIUs.
Initiation capability
SPARK is designed for detonators up to Class 4 (HU).
Approval
Officially approved by the BAM as blasting accessory.
Application area
Developed for EOD, breaching, and special operations units.
Why SPARK?
SPARK combines a robust radio link with clearly separated safety-critical functions. These include integrated circuit testing, continuous status monitoring, a physical safety key, and defined two-hand operation.
Inititation is possible both immediately and with a delay. All functions are designed to remain reliable and traceable even under demanding operational conditions.
Key features
Initiation capability
SPARK is designed for detonators up to Class 4 (HU).
Encryption
256-bit AES for secure communication between the HCU and RIUs.
Two-hand operation
For safety-relevant functions with defined operating logic.
Initiation behavior
Immediate or delayed initiation of up to 16 RIUs.

ShockTube Adapter
The ShockTube adapter extends the SPARK remote initiation system with the ability to reliably fire 3 mm and 2 mm shock tubes. The adapter is mounted directly onto the RIU and is ready for use within seconds. Further technical details are available on request.
Repeater
A repeater can be used to extend the system range. It can be integrated easily into an existing SPARK setup. Further technical details are available on request.
